On Air

Interactive sound installation, Castle Eggenberg in Graz, April 2003

44 steel poles were placed in the inner courtyard of Castle Eggenberg representing the country of origin of a TV or radio broadcast signal. By touching any of the poles, visitors can listen to each of the different languages "on air" receivable via satellite in the Northern Hemisphere:
Albanian, Bosian, Bulgarian, German, English, French, Georgian, Greek, Italian, Croation, Kurdish, Macedonian, Dutch, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovakian, Slovenian, Spanish, Turkish, Chechnyan, Hungarian, Arabic, Armenian, Bengali, Cantonese, Mandarin, Farsi, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Pakistani, Tamil and Thai.
