dePictured (Bitwall 4) Shadow relief at the Williamson Gallery, Art Center Pasadena, 2001 The portraits of 15 male inmates are processed to produce bitmap images which were translated into a physical matrix of plastic chips. These were painstakingly assembled into the wall surfaces. Up close they appear as an abstract assembly of small pieces. But using the gallery lighting system the images of the mens’ faces became visible from a distance.
