Light Installation at the Centro Cultural Candido Mendes 2. Petrobras Exhibition of Virtual Reality, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil 1999, Christian Moeller and Jytte Basler

The experimental nature of the installation consists in the way it plays with the positioning of illumination by reducing the distance between stage actor and light source to an absolute minimum.
Through a shopping window the observer looks into the room from outside, and sees what looks like a still-life. Only visible are the bare feet of several actresses illuminated by a very cold light shining from beneath their clothing as they move about.
The actresses become their own light sources, creating an image of an alien, extremely artificial world.
